There once was a duck who could not fly
He was so sad that he wanted to die
But then came a day
When all the ducks flew away
And his family was shot out of the sky
The duck cried loudly because he was sad
But then that sadness was changed to glad
Because if he could fly
Then he would surely get fried
And that would be incredibly bad
Then the duck shot up out of his bed
He thought he would surely be dead
Then he looked up
And proceeded to upchuck
And a bullet went into his head.

My Brother Sam is Dead: Sams Point of View
How would you feel if your older brother just decided to fling himself into a war? How would you feel if that brother of yours was you only role model, and your only mentor? In the book My Brother Sam is Dead by James Lincoln Collier, that is exactly how Tim feels. His older brother Sam comes home from college one day and proudly announces that he has joined the patriots to fight the British. Tim and his family are not sure what to think. They have been British there whole life, and now the other member of the family has somehow decided to go to war and fight for the other side. It is a death sentence for Sam, and his family knows it. But what if Sam were telling the story and not Tim? Would the book be the complete opposite?
If Sam were to be the one narrating the book, many of the main parts would be different. For example, when Sam first heads off to fight the British, his family thinks that it is the dumbest idea ever thought of. Sam on the other hand thinks that it is an opportunity to become free from the mother country. If he had told the story then he would make it sound like the rest of his family were the dumb ones, and he and the other patriots were the ones who knew what they were doing. If the book had gone Sam’s way, then he would not have been killed at the end. Sam told Tim to butcher the cattle that they had, or otherwise it would have been stolen. Tim decided not to butcher the cattle, and some troops did try to steal them. Sam tried to stop them, but they beat him up and put him in jail for an attempted cattle theft even though he didn’t do it. The general decided to have him shot for the attempted theft. If Sam would have been telling the story, the cows would have been butchered, and he would not have died. The book would have changed completely, and the title would even have to be changed.

Conflict piece
In my book, the main conflict is that the main characters brother Sam leaves for the war. The problem is that he is fighting for the patriots when his family members are loyalists. Another huge problem is that Tim's father died, so him and his mother have to run the tavern business all by themselves. The fact that Tim's brother Sam left makes life extremely hard for Tim and his mom, and it also makes the Winter nearly impossible for them to get through. I thought that the luck of Tim's family would change towards the end of the book, but it didn't.
Although it seems like nothing else could ho terribly wrong, it does. For example, at the very end of the book, two people steal the cows from the bran next to Tim's and his moms tavern. They put the blame on Sam, and he is taken away to a jail. The crime for this is death and Sam is sentenced to be shot. This does not really solve the problem, seeing as he died, but it also helps the family turn to the side of the Patriots. The whole book is one big problem for Tim and his family, because nothing ever goes right for them. First, his father dies. Then his brother leaves for war leaving them running a business by themselves. Then of course the end of the book when Sam dies. It never seems to end.

The Adventures of Phillip
Phillip walked out of McDonald’s 12 pounds heavier. He felt extremely proud of himself knowing that he could live the rest of his life without any problems. Phillip was a retired cashier who had worked at Pick ‘n Save. After winning the lottery, he bought a mansion on a lake, and was living the good life. Two years later, he retired at age 32. Since then, he has been nearly assassinated 6 times, lost his house, everything he owns, and was forced to live in a cardboard box outside of the local McDonald’s. Phillip is now 37. He thinks that things can’t get any worse, but he is very wrong.
It all started to go miserably wrong about 5 minutes after he walked out of the McDonald’s. Phillip noticed that the assassin who had tried to kill him twice before was standing next to his cardboard box with a bazooka at his hip. He quickly crossed to the other side of the street hoping he would not notice him. Phillips instincts told him that he had been spotted, so he dove onto the cement as he felt something sail over his head. Just as he tried to get up, a car ran over his arm. He cried out in excruciating pain and stumbled to his feet. Barely able to see he sprinted as fast as he could across the street. He didn’t make it. An SUV rammed him from behind into his back and he flew 50 feet. Phillip hit the ground with a smash and passed out cold.
When Phillip awoke he was in a dark room. He still could not see very well, and when he tried to move he screamed as loud as he ever had before. His arm was so badly broken that it looked like a paralyzed snake. The only good news was that he only had bad bruises on his back, so it was not broken. Phillip was realizing all this when a door opened somewhere behind him, and light flooded into the room. He was tied down standing up to a partially tipped over table that was nailed to the ground. He was also in the middle of a circular room with no decoration whatsoever. A man walked up to him, and with a surge of panic Phillip noticed that it was the assassin. He pulled his hand out of his pocket and for an instant he thought he was going to be shot dead right there. Instead the man pulled out a cheeseburger fresh from McDonald’s. He grabbed it with his teeth and began to chew. The man left. Phillip finished off the burger and passed out again from fear. The man had come back with a gun.
After passing out Phillip woke up almost instantly. The man raised the gun and was pointing it directly at his head. On instinct he ducked, and the bullet slammed into the rope that was holding him down. It fell down to the floor, and he could now run away. He heard the man curse multiple times. There had only been one bullet in the gun. Phillip ignored the still aching pain in his left arm and sprinted out the door straight into a pack of Rottweiler’s. Instead of stopping in terror, he sprinted up to the fence surrounding the dogs and climbed over. He got up again and ran all the way back to his cardboard box. Phillip was uncertain if the assassins would come back, so he picked up his small pile of belongings and ran towards the Pick ‘n Save he used to work at. Finding a comfortable spot behind the store, he dropped down the box and looked around for the assassins. They were nowhere to be seen. The pain in his arm was gone, but once the adrenalin wore off he would be hurting for a while. After realizing what he had gone through that day, he walked back where he had come from to the McDonald’s. He walked inside and ordered a cheeseburger. After taking a few bites, he suddenly flopped onto the floor and lay still.
Phillip had weighed almost 400 pounds. All the sprinting around had made his heart slow down until it finally stopped. Phillip had avoided being assassinated twice in a day. He had been hit by a car, and had gotten his arm run over. He had survived a pack of bloodthirsty dogs only to die eating his favorite food in the world at his favorite restaurant in the world. This was the way his life had gone in the last few years, and this was how it ended.

Ponyboy: A static character
“He should never yell at Soda. No one should ever holler at my brother. I exploded. You don’t yell at him! I shouted. Darry wheeled around and slapped me so hard that it knocked me against the door” How does it feel to not have any parents growing up? In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, the main character Ponyboy doesn’t have any parents, only his college age brother Darry, and his other older brother Soda pop. He has to make very big decisions in the book. Pony is also in a gang called greasers, and they get into fights with people called soc’s. Although the two gangs hate each other, Pony seems to get a different feeling about the Soc’s throughout the book.
Although Pony hates the soc’s at first, he changes a little bit. In the book, Ponyboy seems to be a static character at first, but he also seems like a dynamic character at one point. The reason he seems to be a static character, is because his hatred of the soc’s doesn’t seem to change much throughout the book. The one time he seems like a dynamic character is when he finishes talking to the soc Randy. Ponyboy realizes that both of them are human and can relate to each other. Greasers will still be greasers and soc’s will be soc’s. I think that Pony still hates the soc’s but now that he understands that even though the soc’s are the ritzy ones, they don’t have it easy either. Overall he pretty much stays a static character.
While Ponyboy seems to partially change his feelings towards the soc’s in the book, his actions don’t agree with this. For example, in the book when the greasers and soc’s have a fight called a rumble, Ponyboy goes and tries to beat up as many soc’s as possible. Randy on the other hand does not go. His actions affect the book quite a bit. One example of that is when Johnny and Ponyboy were on the run. Johnny would never have survived on his own while the police are looking for him. Another example of how Ponyboys actions affected the book would be when he decides not o run away after Darry hit him. If Pony would have run away then the whole family would have fallen apart, and the gang would have to. I think that this was probably the most important decision that he made.
In The Outsiders, the main character Ponyboy makes a lot of good decisions, and some not so good decisions. His hatred for the soc’s stays pretty much the same throughout the book, except for the talk with Randy. The decisions that Pony has to make in this book affect everything that happens.

Football Champ
Author's note: In the book Football Champ, Ty is a freshman in high school, and has an older brother who is going to play in the NFL. He lives in New York with his aunt and uncle and never gets to do much other than work. One god thing is that Ty is going to be filthy rich. That’s what his grumpy old uncle thinks. That’s what his aunt thinks, and that’s what his brother thinks. Tiger Lewis has played 4 mind-blowing seasons of football at Syracuse University, and people are now talking about him being a first round draft pick. Ty is also a good football player, but not nearly as good as his brother. That is what he thinks, and that is what everyone tells him. Little does he know, he will get a chance to shine just as much, or even more than his brother in my version of the ending.
After sending one kid to a hospital twice in one week, the corner backs now feared Ty. This is what made practice so easy for the speedy wide receiver. It was like taking candy from a baby the way he flew down the field waiting for the ball to reach him. Sometimes, he would have to put in an extra burst of speed to catch up to the ball, and sometimes he would have to stop to catch the ball. Today his team was scrimmaging, and the call was to send Ty on a slant, and see if he could break free. When the ball was snapped, Ty broke into an all out sprint, then stopped and cut toward the opposite sideline. The ball was thrown on a line right to Ty. He grabbed it with smooth hands, and then started faking out every defender that dared to come near him. Once a hole opened up, Ty sprinted as fast as he could towards the end zone. After scoring, he looked up and noticed his older brother motioning for him to come over. It was time to go.
Ty had never worn something so nice. It was a sports suit that fit him flawlessly. This was a huge night though, and they were going to celebrate thoroughly. Ty couldn’t believe all the considerable football players that surrounded him, including his brother. When Tiger got picked to go to the New York Jets for the first pick in the NFL draft, Ty was so emotional that he burst out into tears. He hugged his brother, and even hugged his aunt and uncle for the first time in his life. His uncle was drunk and was screaming, “Were going to be rich!” He then passed out onto the cold tiled floor. That partially ended the celebration. Ty could care less. His uncle had never done one thing nice for him in his life. So instead of helping him up, he left him on the floor, and went to talk to his brother.
Tragedy struck in the Jets first home game. Tiger had been playing the greatest game a rookie had ever played. He had two touchdowns in the first quarter alone and had 113 yards in total. At the start of the second quarter, Tiger went up to grab a pass, when his knee gave out completely. The crowd gasped. At first, the football stud tried to get up, but then slumped back down onto the ground, groaning like a dying goose, and grabbing his right knee. The medical crew put him on a stretcher, and carried him into the locker room. Ty couldn’t help himself; he jumped down onto the field and sprinted as fast as he could over to his brother. The look in Tiger Lewis’s face was agony. Tiger whispered something to him. He told Ty to go into the game for him. That’s when Ty passed out cold onto the grassy turf. He woke up in the same spot not half a minute later, and remembered what his brother had said.
Ty could not believe what he was doing as he jogged out of the locker room wearing Tiger’s jersey. . There were 45 seconds left in the fourth quarter, so hopefully he would not have to go in. It was overwhelming, how a freshman in high school was playing in an NFL game. Once the Patriots kicked the ball off to the Jets, that’s when Ty noticed that they were losing by five, 35 to 30. The coach screamed for Tiger to get his butt into the game, and Ty didn’t know what to do. He was completely frozen to his spot. Then another player shoved him onto the field and TY sprinted off towards the huddle. He kept his head down, worrying that other players might notice that it was not Tigers face inside the helmet. His heart also skipped a beat or two when the play was called. It was a deep post corner to Tiger. When the QB asked if he was ready, all he could manage was a small gasp and a nod. He lined up. All he had to do was try to get open. When the ball was snapped, that’s exactly what Ty did.
Sprinting as fast as he could, he ran a perfect route, and beat the corner back. Not even realizing what was happening, he got past the corner and looked up just in time to see the ball coming down to him. He put his hands up, and the ball hit them with force. The football started to fall to the turf. He dove out for it, hoping with everything he had that he could get his hands on it. Ty closed his eyes and hit the ground. When he opened his eyes, he saw the brown football sitting in his palms. Looking up Ty saw the referee hold up his hands signaling a touchdown. The game was over, and the Jets had won. Emotion once more flooded through Ty’s body as he lay in the soft green grass. The last thing Ty remembered thinking was if his brother was going to be OK. He made a silent prayer, and then once again shut his eyes.

The Outsiders Conflicts
I think that the biggest conflict in the entire book would have to be when Johnny kills Bob. That pretty much makes the relationship between the greasers and soc's even worse. It is also the reason that Johnny got hurt. If the soc's wouldn't have jumped them, then Johnny wouldn't have killed Bob. If Johnny didn't kill Bob, then Ponyboy and Johnny wouldn't have had to run away. If they wouldn't have had to run away, then Johnny wouldn't be hurt and in the hospital. I think that if the Soc's and Greasers can solve most of the conflicts, then the city they live in might be peaceful.

Soda Pop
Authors note: This piece is describing a character from The Outsiders. I owuld like feed back on my character analysis.
Sodapop looks like an actor, has blond hair and is very handsome. All of the girls in the book like him. He has a very tough home life. His parents died, he is in a gang, and is a high school dropout. The one good thing he has is his brothers and his gang.Although his life is not easy, he is a very good person. He helps look after his younger brother Pony boy, and does not get into to much trouble. Soda is also misjudged by many people. People misjudge him because he is a high school dropout and a greaser. By the end of the book, I think that Ponyboy will actually convince Soda to go back to high school so that Soda might get a job and earn some money. I think this because Soda will eventually figure out that he has to do something else in life other than hanging out in a gang.

Halloween Challenge: Grim Reaper
As the man screamed I brought down the scythe on his balding scalp. He went silent immediately, and I moved on to my next victim. It's not that I enjoyed my job; killing people was not my kind of fun. Sighing deeply I moved on once again. The next person to find death I recognized immediately. He was my favorite boxer. This saddened me so much, but it was what I had to do. I raised the blade, and brought it down. The metal shattered into million pieces as the scythe struck his washboard abs. This had never happened before, and I was in shock. He woke immediately and grabbed me by the neck. Being the grim reaper, I could just slip out of his grasp, but it would not work. His iron claws were choking my already dead body. I lost consciousness and hit the floor. This ended the grim reapers days for good. Only seconds from my second death I closed my eyes for good.

The Tell Tale Heart
Is the man crazy, or not? In an instant I dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him. I then smiled gaily, to find the deed so far done. But, for many minutes, the heart beat on with a muffled sound. This, however, did not vex me; it would not be heard through the wall. At length it ceased. The old man was dead. Wow this guy is nuts. He killed the man for what reason? An eye. He definitely is crazy because no one in their right mind would ever think about that.
One reason that this man is crazy, is because of the way that every night he would hide in the mans bedroom every night for hours. I don't know if anyone in their right mind would ever think about doing that. He did this just because of the old mans eye. Couldn’t he just leave his job and the man and go somewhere else? If he would have done that, then he wouldn't have had to kill someone, and wouldn't get caught by the police. Also at the end of the story when the police are in the house, and he starts hearing the ringing in his head. He thinks that it is the old mans heart, but that's not possible at all. He is crazy if that's what he thinks it was.
Although it seems that this guy is completely insane, there are some reasons that make it seem like he is a perfectly normal person in every aspect. For example could a mad person think of this plan? Probably not. It was not a perfect plan, seeing as he got arrested, but it almost worked. A crazy person could not possibly think of that.
While it seems that this guy could be both normal or insane, I think that he is absolutely crazy. A normal person would not deliberately kill someone just because they didn't like the eye of that man. Also, doing the same thing every night for hours seems just weird. This story was almost scary by the way that he planned out what he was going to do. The person in this short story was definitely insane because of how he planned and killed the man.

This story was almost scary by the way that he planned out what he was going to do. The person in this short story was definitely insane because of how he planned and killed the man.

Patriots Pen
The United States of America is the most free country in the world. After gaining freedom, this country has never looked back. We have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and we have rights. Many other countries can't say that about themselves. Also, people travel here looking for a better life. We are probably the only country in the world that can say something that special.
Although we are free and all, America is not necessarily a perfect place to live. For example right now the economy is in a dump. There are thousands of people here who don't have jobs or have any promise in life. We are also in many wars that decimate both our soldiers, and the amount of money that can be spent on other issues such as healthcare, education and others.
Even though there are many different reasons to be proud of your country and vice versa, I am very proud to be living in America. I am proud of my freedom to do what I so choose. I think that all Americans should be extremely proud of that. If having all these privileges isn’t fortunate, then what is? We may not live in a perfect world, but living in this country makes me proud.

Doing your Laundry.
Authors Note: The assignment was to write a conclusion that had all of the proper steps in it. This is a good conclusion because I made a good argument in it. How well i used the steps to making a good conclusion.
There is no reason for kids to do laundry. It builds character and all, but if you only have one life time, why waste a couple of minutes doing laundry. It is a chore that should not be done by a kid. When I was younger, my mom used to do it almost every other day. Now she makes me do it. After a long tiring day at school, why should a kid have to come home and do laundry. There are so many other things that kids could be doing. If the parents stay at home, then they have all day to watch tv. They could spend a couple of minutes doing laundry.

Hook
I love to play sports. The clang sound as a bat and a ball make perfect contact, the swoosh as the ball goes through the hoop; these are as good as sounds as anything in the world. Sports are the greatest thing that's ever happened to the world. They are very fun to play, and people can make millions doing what they love. People like LeBron James make more in 10 years than most people do in a lifetime, and they get to do it playing what they love to do. Kids who play sports in schools have an opportunity to do something great in life if they find that they have a special talent. That is what sports can do. They can reveal peoples special talents. When that special talent is revealed, then there is nothing stopping them.

Letter to Casey
Dear Casey,
This is Phil, and I am cashier at McDonald's. I heard you struck out to end the game. That hurts really bad. You made many mistakes during your at bat. There was a problem that you had to try to overcome, and it was not easy. With Johnny at second and Flynn at third, you had to drive in both runs to tie, and hit a home run to win. Then when you step to bat, The rising action occurs. The crowd goes crazy. You think you're better than everybody else, so you take the first two pitches for strikes. Now you decide to get angry at the pitcher o now there is no going back. This is the climax. Now if it's a strike, the game is over. A hit could tie it up, or win the game. When you swing and miss, that is the end of the game. This is the resolution. I hope that you have a much better game next time around. Just kidding I'm not a fan of you at all.
Sincerely,
Phil

Essay on Two Minute Drill
In the book Two Minute Drill by Mike Lupica, the mode of literature is definitely a romance. All of the characteristics and the plot line fit into this mode of literature, and after reading it, you realize that this is the only possible mode it could fit into. This book is a romance, because every possible characteristic fits into it perfectly.
In the beginning of the book, it is just normal life for the main character Scott Perry. Then everything change. When he moves to a new school, he is bullied and picked on. This is the minor problem that Scott will have to face. This is also part 2 of the romance plot line. Scott gets bullied so much, that he doesn't want to go to school. The way he tries to solve the problem is by trying out for football. If he can survive tryouts and make the team, maybe he won't be bullied anymore. It will be a long and hard tryout, but if he survives until the end of the camp, then he will be accepted at school.
Although Scott has a solution, he has no idea how he is going to accomplish it. This is the part in the plot line where the reader sees if the problem will be solved, or if the story will turn into a tragedy. In the first day of tryouts, Scott makes it through easily, because they didn't do any contact. In the days to come though, they will do a lot of hitting. The next couple of days Scott gets beat up, but sticks it out, and makes the team. Even though he did make the team he still gets bullied. At this point in the story I was thinking it would turn into a tragedy or possibly even an irony story.
Even though he made the team, that's not the turning point in the story. When the story really turns, is when the team starts playing games. They win all of their games without Scott playing, and make it to the state championship. At the end of the game, Scott is their only hope. It is rainy, and muddy, and he has to make a drop kick field goal. Scott nails the drop kick and they win. Scott is now accepted at school. This is when the story turns into a romance mode of literature.
The plot line fits perfectly with the romance mode of literature. So do the characteristics. Many of the places where scenes in the book take place, relates to this mode. For example, when Scott is in his field in his backyard, that the field is sunny. This relates to a romance. Also, the animals, and types of plants named in this story very much sound like a romance. This story is a romanc3e because of all the characteristics, and because of the plot line.

Summer
It is almost Summer, and I cannot wait. This Summer as usual I have baseball season which takes up most of the Summer but other than that there is nothing to do. I have the entire break off. I have no idea what I am going to do to fill up that time. I think my family is going on a vacation, but I don't know where. Last year I went to New York with my baseball team to Cooperstown. We were the first ever Pewaukee team to go their, and the first from Wisconsin to go to a place called All Star Village. It is a smaller version of the larger Dreams Park, but All Star Village is air conditioned while the other is not. That was one of the best times I have ever had, even though we lost most of our games. This Summer probably won't be as fun as last Summer, but it will be great.

NBA Playoffs
In the NBA playoffs, the four teams left are the Chicago Bulls, the Miami Heat, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. My favorite team is the Thunder, but they are one game away from getting knocked out. They are probably going to lose the next game which is being played in Dallas. If they lose, then the Mavericks move on to play the Bulls, or the Heat. I think that the Heat are going to win the series, even though the Bulls were the number one seed overall. The Heat were number 2 overall, but they have been playing to the extreme lately with their big three scoring almost 75 points per game. I think that when the Heat beat the Bulls, and the Mavericks beat the Thunder, that the Heat will beat the Mavericks in 7 games. My prediction at the beginning of the playoffs was that the Heat were going to beat the Thunder in 6 games in the Championship. That could still happen, but it is very unlikely.

Bananas & Cheetos
Bananas are very delicious. They make a great snack, especially before you play sports, because they give you lots of protein. I eat a banana almost every morning for breakfast, depending on how I am feeling. I also eat one before basketball and baseball games, and track meets. This is the boost I need to stay strong through tough workouts. Bananas are also very delicious. They do not taste as good as other foods like Cheetos. Cheetos are the best kind of snack taste wise. They are not very healthy for you unlike bananas. I eat Cheetos nearly every week, and once at a Super bowl party I ate an entire bag from Sam's Club. Bananas and Cheetos are the best snacks the world has ever known.

Mr. Pickle and Tom the Tomato
There once was a giant pickle who ruled all of the universe. His name was Mr. Pickle. He ruled over all the little fruits and vegetables of the land. Little did he know that a plan was being held to overthrow him. A young tomato named tom the tomato was the leader of this plan. He was brave and strong, and could do anything asked of him. The plan he had masterminded was this: He was going to go into pickle castle, which is where Mr. Pickle lived. At night, when Mr. Pickle had gone to sleep they were going to put him into a giant catapult and chuck him into steak world. This was to happen this very evening.
Mr. Pickle was sleeping when he heard a sound. He opened his eyes, to see a tiny red ball in front of him. He thought not of it. He fell back asleep, and soon was heavily snoring. A couple of hours later he woke up to find himself loaded in a giant catapult headed for the sky. He went into a giant rage. He struggled and struggled but could not get out of the catapult. As Tom the tomato yelled fire, he felt himself being thrown straight up into the air. Down below, Tom and his fellow tomatos were celebrating their victory. Little did they know.
It happened about a minute later. Mr. Pickle fell out of the sky and squished every last tomato in the room. The tomatos were no more. Neither was Mr. Pickle, because when he landed he blew up into a giant mass of sticky green slime. Now for once the land formerly ruled by Mr. Pickle was silent

Nightmare
As i was walking down the hall, I heard a noise behind me. I turned around quickly, but nothing was there. I kept walking, but a little faster now. I heard the sound again, a squeak, but again nothing was there. I went into a jog now, but the hall seemed to be getting wider, and longer. I heard it multiple times, but didn't turn around. I ran and ran faster and faster until I could not run anymore. I heard it one more time, and the collapsed. Then I woke up. It was the middle of the night, and I was sweating from head to toe.
I sat up straight, and listened for the squeaking sound. I didn't hear anything, so I went back to sleep. I immediately heard the sound again, and sat up. It was a clear squeak. I didn't move a muscle for an hour straight while the sound got louder and louder. I couldn't stand it anymore, and sprinted out of my room, out of the house, and ran as fast as I could down my street until I collapsed. Then I heard someone telling me to wake up. I woke up in my room. The squeaking sound was gone, and it was sunny out. I let go a sigh of relief. When I got out of bed, I heard a squeaking sound. I had stepped on a rubber duck. It was pathetic. That is the sound that was haunting me all night.

The end of the school year
The end of the school year is very exciting. The last month seems to take forever, but when it is over, I get really excited. I have baseball all summer, and then summer basketball. This is the best part of Summer. It is also great when baseball ends, so I have lots of free time. Baseball is one of my favorite sports, but it is exciting when it is over. Then it is on to basketball, which takes up the rest of the summer. Next I run cross country in fall, and more basketball in Winter. After basketball ends, I have track, and then baseball starts over. Every season I have a sport to play. I have one week all year that is free. That is the week of the end of the school year. That is why I love the end of the school year.
Running
Most people think that running is boring, takes to much time, or is to hard. I like running though, because I am really good at it. I ran cross country which was about 1.8 miles. Now I am running track. I run the mile and half mile, and have broken a school record for the mile. I got 5:17, but I want to get better. The fastest mile in the world was 3:43 or something which is really fast. The fastest man in the world is Usain Bolt. He ran almost 30 miles an hour. Usain Bolt is from Jamaica, and he ran his fastest in the Olympics. It was really funny to watch, because everyone else was running their fastest, while he was showboating past the finish line. It was amazing to watch.

Spring Break
For Spring Break I am going to Illinois to my grandmas house. We go there every year. We stay there for about a week, and the best part is that we get a pound of candy when my brother and I go there. There is a park in her neighborhood where I play basketball and climb a giant tree. The tree is almost a hundred feet tall. At the park there is also a tennis court, even though I don't play tennis. It is always fun, and I look forward to it every year.

Picture Description
On the internet, I found a picture of a funny cat. This cat had just eaten a hamster, and was saying, " OMG he just like exploded." This was a very creative picture, and I thought it was quite funny. There are many pictures like this on the internet of cats, or any other pets screwing up and making themselves look hilarious. In this particular picture, it actually looks like the cat is going to say what he did say. That's why I think these pictures are very funny.

Literary Analysis on the Hundredth Dove
Have you ever been put up to a task that seems nearly impossible? Well in the story “The Hundredth Dove,” by Jane Yolen, that’s exactly what happens. A man named Hugh must capture a hundred doves in one week for his kings wedding. This task seems nearly impossible for almost anybody else, but Hugh is determined to do his best. After all he is the Kings Fowler and has to obey orders. The mode of literature in this story is a romance, because the plot line fits, and so do some of the characteristics, and symbols.
In a romance mode of literature, the plot line always starts with a minor conflict. In this case the minor conflict almost seems major, because the task at hand seems nearly impossible. Hugh has to catch 100 round plump doves in 5 short days for the Kings royal wedding. This is how the minor conflict is started for Hugh.
Although the minor conflict is realized, it gets worse. Hugh catches many fat doves a day. One keeps getting a way, and he is determined to catch it. After 5 tiring days of hunting, he has still not caught the slim white dove that keeps getting out of his grasp. This is when the part gets much worse for Hugh. The fifth day comes and he still does not catch the bird. In anger he kills it instead. The problem afterwards is solved because of his actions, and it ends happy just like most romances do end. They all end with life symbolism, and in this case it was the fact that Hugh completed the job, and he now does not have to hunt birds for the kings table ever again.
Even though the plot line fits for this story, some of the characteristics however do not. For example the main character is not in control the entire time. In a romance the main character usually controls the story, but not in this one. When Hugh has trouble catching the very last bird, he is definitely not in control then. This short story is extremely unrealistic though, because for one, there is almost no way that anyone could capture a hundred doves in 5 days. Secondly, not even a large group of people could eat a hundred doves at a wedding. Some parts of symbolism almost fit in perfectly though. A dove is a symbol of romance, and that is what the story is mainly based on. From what the story says it seems to be about spring to summer time, which is when romances take place. The parts of the Kings house also sound like a romance. That is also a big symbol.
While some of the characteristics fit, and some forms of symbolism, I am still convinced that this is a romance story. The symbols that do fit make it obvious, and the plotline also fit in nearly perfectly with a romance. All of these contribute to making this story what it is. With the symbolism and characteristics this story is a romance plot line and story.

Final Four
In the final four for the NCAA tournament, there are some quite odd seedings. In the top left region, the four seeded Kentucky is possibly he favorite to win it all. In the bottom left is Uconn, who is probably going to win it all with their star player, Kemba Walker. On the right side of the bracket on the top is the eleventh ranked VDU standing for Virginia Commonwealth University. They are playing the Butler Bulldogs of the Horizon league. The winner of the Uconn Kentucky game plays the winner of the Butler VCU game. I think that it will be Uconn verse VCU in the championship game the cool thing about it this year is that VCU is the third 11 seed to move on to onto the final four. If they win, then they will be the first double digit team to go to the championship game. If VCU wins it all that would be a new record, and this year many records have already been set.

Granny Ed and the Lewisville Raiders
Have you ever felt so hopeless about something that you think accomplishing it is impossible? That's what happened in this book. The story I read was "Granny Ed, and the Lewisville Raiders" by Rae Rainey. This story was a comedy mode of literature. There was a lot in this book that made it this type of mode of literature. The plot line and the characteristics made this book a comedy.
In the beginning of the book, there was everyday normal life. There was a basketball team, who was not very good. Next in the plot line comes the problem. The coach of the team breaks his back, and cannot coach his team anymore for the rest of the season. With no one else willing to coach the team, there season looks hopeless. Then one of the players grandmas decides that if no one will coach the team, then she will. That was not the greatest idea, because she doesn't know anything about basketball. That's when the problem gets worse. That's what the team thought. Then the same kids grandma comes back, and coaches the kids. They go undefeated in the season, and win state. Then the problem is solved, and it's back to every day normal life.
Although the plot line fits there are other parts in this story that fit it into a comedy. Some characteristics in this book were the times of day, and where events took place. For example, every part of the book took place during the middle of the day. Not at midnight, or early morning like tragedies or ironies do. It always seemed to be sunny in this story too. The colors also all match with the characteristics. Green, earthy tone, and others all match. The ending also fits in perfectly with the comedy plot line, when they win the championship, and then it's back to normal everyday life.
While all these objects fit, this story could also possibly be a romance. The events also somewhat fit into a romance mode of literature, and that plot line. Even though that it could possibly be a romance, I think it is a comedy. All of the characteristics and the events in this book make it a comedy plot line.

Easter
Easter is coming soon, and I am very excited for it. Every year, either one of my aunts, or my grandma hosts Easter. Everyone still does the egg hunt just for fun, even though some of my cousins are in college. My favorite part is when we wake up in the morning and get to eat all the chocolate before my parents get up. Then I get to stay at my grandmas house for a week, and they have a basketball court and everything. Easter is probably my second favorite holiday. Another great part about Easter is that I get to see my family who live farther away. There are so many great parts about Easter.

Childhood Memory
Broken Arm
It was in fifth grade. My friends and I were at the basketball court playing a pickup game. I got a rebound off the backboard, and sprinted up the court. One of my taller friends was waiting for me at the basket. Instead of driving down the wide open lane, I pulled up for a jump shot. Before I could get the ball off, I was decked by my biggest friend, Jackson Hoang. It hurt at first quite a bit. It kind of felt like you were getting hit by a mini freight train. Immediately I fell to the ground. I landed hard on my left wrist, and it exploded. Well not literally, but it hurt like crazy. I looked up in agony at my friends disturbed faces. One of them said, "Oh, gross." I looked down and saw that my wrist was bent at an odd angle. That's when I freaked out.
This kind of reminds me of when I was riding bikes with my friend, and he fell and broke his arm. It didn't hurt him at first, but he freaked out because it was bent weird. I was scared because of the pain, because of how it was bent, but most of all, I was scared of me not playing sports during that summer. My baseball season started the very next day, which stunk. I was walked into the small nurses office, and took a seat. I had felt this pain before, because I had broken three bones before this. As I walked past I got a lot of looks that said, " Oh geez, that kid broke his arm." While I was in the nurses office, she wrapped it up, and tried to call my parents. Neither of them were home, and neither had their cell phones wiht them. I waitred in that stuffyu room for two hours before my mom got the message and came to pick me up. She idmediatelly took me to a small orthopedic called Urgent Care. I got an X-RAY and it was confirmed. That officially ended my baseball season.

March Madness
It is now March, and that means march madness. This year I think that Ohio State will win it all, because they have been dominating all season. Wisconsin is a four seed, and I think they might have a shot at doing well. In the final game I think it will be Ohio St> against Pittsburgh, with Ohio State beating them by a lot. Every year I make about like 2o brackets, but only follow 2 or 3. I like to see upsets in the tournament, unless Wisconsin loses. My family always fills out many brackets to see who wins money. My dad has won the last 2 years, but i think I'm going to win this year.

Have you ever been so scared but so excited at the same time? In the book Dive by Gordan Korman, That's what happens to all characters at some point and time. This book is a tragedy mode of literature, because it follows the tragedy plot line.
At the beginning of the book, the world is in conflict with all three kids. They screwed up in life and have to go to a facility in the ocean where they learn to scuba dive. For each one of the kids, they have a major problem in life. One of them is color blind, one has a disease where she can't walk properly, one kid paralyzed one of his friends playing hockey. The other one has no parents to help them. That's how the world is in conflict for them.
Although the world was in conflict, there was a rise to power. The rise to power in the plot line, is when they are diving, they find a shipwreck. This brings a promising future for them at the diving institute. Then before they know it, it turns out that the wreck isn't even real. It was part of a movie scene, and it was made out of plastic. That's the tragic flaw.
Even though the tragic flaw happened, that's not the worst thing that happened. They find another real wreck. Then comes the tragic fall when some treasure hunters take the wreck away from them. The kids kept trying to get the wreck but it wouldn't happen. The book ends in death and death symbolism. The death is when a captain of a ship and one of their friends dies. The death symbolism is when the hunters steal away the treasure that keeps them from making a fortune.
Even though that the book follows a tragedy plot line, that's not all in the book that yells out tragedy. Some characteristics are in the book too. Almost all of the main parts that happen take place at night. It storms all the time in the story, and it is usually never sunny. The colors in the book, and the animals fit too. Even some people in the book are like that.
Sometimes some books can be a mix of two or even three plot lines. With this story, there is no doubt that it is a tragedy. This book does have some great parts and some terrible parts, but overall it is a tragedy.

Literary Analysis New Essay
Literary analysis
In the book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, is a comedy plot line. There are many characteristics in the book that make it this kind of story. There are some parts of this book that sound like a tragedy, but for the most part it is a comedy plot line.
For example, one main part of the story that has some tragedy. in it is the very beginning. The main character is a poor Indian kid who has poor parents, and goes to a poor school. At this point in the book it looks as if it is going to be a tragedy. Then an example of comedy is when he decides to transfer schools. The story gets funny from there on.
Although the story started like a tragedy, the novel follows a comedy plot line. First it's everyday life in the Indian reservation where the main character and his family live. Next comes a problem that the main character causes. The problem in this story is the kid moving to a school outside of the reservation. His tribe and his best friend now hate him for doing this. Later in the book, his best friend and him decide that it's not worth hating each other for leaving and trying something new. So Junior who is the main character and his friend Rowdy play a game of basketball, and that's how the problem is solved and then it's on to everyday life.
While that was the plot line, there are still many objects and characteristics that go along with it being a comedy. For example, the reservation has many pets, all of which fit into a comedy. Junior has a dog, and his neighbors have birds for pets. Also many long parts of the book are in places of the home that work out right for this mode of literature. One long part of the book is when the main character is on the porch talking with his math teacher. The porch is a characteristic of comedy. Junior hits his math teacher in the face with a math book, and breaks his nose there.
While there are some parts of the book that seem like tragedy for example when Juniors grandma died, the story isn't really a tragedy. Almost every object in this book makes it more of a comedy. Even though in a plot line, the book does not have to be funny, this book is very funny. There are many parts and characteristics in this novel that make this story a comedy plot line.

New Essay
The book "Schooled" by Gordon Korman is a great book, and it teaches a lot of lessons. Reading this book gave me a feel of how people live outside of what many people think of as the normal world. Many lessons were learned in this book by many characters.
One of the main lessons I saw in this book, was when something bad happens, do not panic, and trust your instinct to do the right thing. For example, in the beginning of the book, the main character Cap's grandma falls out of a tree picking cherries, and breaks her hip. Cap trusts his instinct, and rushes her to the hospital. That turned out to be the right thing to do, because if he hadn't done that, his grandma could have damaged her leg forever. That was a turning point in the book.
Although that was a big lesson there are still some more lessons that this book had. After Cap drove to the hospital, he had to go live with a family with a mean high schooler. She hates Cap from the very beginning, but Cap doesn't run away, or hide. She thought that Cap was a freak, because he was a hippie. But Cap stood up for what he believed in. That was the lesson from that part of the book.
While other lessons were learned in the story, those were the main big ones. Smaller lessons consist of doing the right thing, treat people as you would like to be treated and others. Cap was a saint in this book for doing all those, and more. While the main character in this book had many lessons to be learned, other characters also showed many lessons. Caps grandma taught Cap the lessons but she needed to learn some to. She was confident in the book about everything but always got over confident. The lesson that this person learned in the book was just that. Not to be overconfident. This is one of the few examples of lessons characters had to learn.
In this book, character had a lot of lessons to learn. I still liked this book a lot, even though many characters were screwing up so much. I would recommend this book to people to read, because it keeps you thinking, and gives lots of laughs.

All star gmae; basketball
In the All star game, the sports best players face off in a competition. There are more than just one game to watch though, becuause there are dunk contests, skills challenges, and celebrity All Star games. In the celebrity all star game, Justin Beiber played for some reason, and got the MVP for doing nothing. In the real All Star game, Lebron James got a triple double, which means he got ten of three things. He got 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. The only person other than that to get a triple double in an All Star game is Michael Jordan. The MVP went to Kobe Bryant, just because he had 39 points. I thought Lebron should've gotten it.

The book "Schooled" by Gordon Korman is a great book, and it teaches a lot of lessons.
As Cap Anderson climbed out of the car, he could not believe his eyes. More than a thousand people were standing around with sad faces on, holding candles. Cap could not e seen by anyone, because his face was covered by the Mickey mouse hat. He wanted to throw it off and yell, " I am alive." The look on some kids faces told him the whole story though. Almost everyone was looking at the kid in the Mickey mouse hat with hate. Cap knew they couldn't see him, but the way everyone's faces were, he knew if he took off the hat, he would be mobbed. He climbed back into the car, and promised himself he was never going to go to that school again, never.
Even though Cap was sad about the ceremony that apparently went very wrong for him, he couldn't stay that way because he was now going back to Garland. When he got there, Sophie parked in front, dropped him off and took off. When Cap stepped out he saw a fancy car, with a woman sitting on the hood just smiling at him. He recognized this person immediately though. What was his hippie grandmother doing in a fancy car and nice clothes? She stared at him for another minute, got in the car and drove off. Cap was stunned.
Although his grandma had left him behind, Cap still was determined to take good care of Garland farm, where he used to live. When he walked up to the rusty old gate, he saw the terrible sign. It read, " Due to the decisions of the mayor of the town, Garland farm has been CLOSED for all time." Cap read the message over and over again. He looked up the dirt road at the wooden cottages, and the old trees bearing no fruit. Then slowly, he turned around and walked away not ever looking back.
While Cap Anderson was sad about his old home, he was also excited about moving back in with his old family, the Donnelly's. He was also excited about going back to his old school he went to while living with them. When he rang the doorbell and asked to come in, the family was very eager to have him back. As he climbed the white creaky stairs, all the memories started to flow back to him. He remembered the scratch on the wall, and the mark on the floor. But something was wrong.
Even though Cap felt well inside the house, he still had an urge to be back at Garland. He sprinted out the glass front door, across the lawn, and down the street. He didn’t stop sprinting until he reached the sign again. Without thinking, he climbed over it and again sprinted until he was inside his wooden cottage. Breathing as hard as a raging bull, he climbed into the old mattress he used for as a bed, and drifted off to sleep. He had no clue what would be happening the next morning.

The Packers Victory
When the Packers won the Super Bowl on Sunday, my house went crazy even though there were only eight people in our house. My family was there, and the Majeskies were there. My mom started screaming so loud after every little thing that the Packers did that I'm surprised that she didn't drive us mad. She had a sore throat the next day. When games like this come, I like to pass the time through the bad parts of the games by eating. That day I had 15 cookies, and 6 gatorades.

Super Bowl
The Packers are quite unfortunately going to lose. The game is still fun to watch, but I think they will lose. I want them to win, but I don't think that's going to happen. The steelers are very good, and I don't know if the Packers can pull it off. It will be close, but a tough game. During the game, I will probably eat so much that I can't talk. That's what I did last year. I love the Super bowl Sunday.

school after snow day
After a snow day I hate going to school. When I wake up in the morning I feel like I need a gallon of coffee and a couple 5 our energies. The whole day I am in a daze, and I almost fall asleep during classes. During gym it is the worst, but the best at the same time. I die in gym, but it wakes me up for the rest of the day. When I get home from school, I feel great, but then I realize that there's another day ahead of me just like it.

Have you ever been completely scared of something so much that you can't out your mind to do it again? I can relate to this story quite a bit. There were many times when things happened to me, and I was afraid to do what I usually could do without thinking about it. There have been any times when I got hurt, and when that happened, I hold back a little when I play sports. Eventually, that feeling will go away, and I won't even think about what happened. When the author said he thought he was drowning in the pool, I can't really relate to that, because I've never felt like I'm drowning.
Although I can't relate to when the author said he thought he would drown, I can relate to when he was afraid do go swimming again. For example, when I broke my arm, I was afraid to do any physical activity for a long time, even after it was healed. When that feeling eventually went away, the worst thing happened to me; I broke my arm again. I was completely freaked to do any sort of activity at all for the next year. I broke my arm one more time in fifth grade, and was only out for the baseball season. By the time I came back, I was still a bit nervous about what was going to happen to my arm, but it was fine. These are some ways I can relate to the author.
Even though I broke my arm three times, I wasn't don
e yet. I had three concussions, and a torn patellar tendon in my knee. I shied away from sports for a while, but came back strong as ever. When the author said he went swimming a lot after he got over the fear, that's exactly what happened to me. I still play sports, and now without any fear. This is a very good thing, because I play 4 sports, and I can't feel like I might get hurt at any point and time, because that will effect how hard I play.
Even when I read this story I was thinking about how much me and the author are alike, and how much we are different. For example, both the author and I were scared to do a sport we enjoyed, until finally we got over that fear. But the sport I played and the sport he did, were extremely different. When you swim and you're very scared, that must be even worse. There is a lot more that could happen to you when you're swimming then playing basketball in my opinion.
Although I can relate to this story, I don't think the author and I have to much in common. Lots of people could probably relate to this story, but in their own way just like I did.

Snow Days
I like it when we have snow days, because of course that means no school. I liked snow days last year, but this year they're great, because this year I don't have to get up so early on snow days. If we do have a snow day tomorrow, chances are Zach will come over, and steal everything in my pantry. Every time he comes over he steals all my stuff like cookie dough. I won't let him steal anything if he comes over though. On snow days, sometimes I just sit inside and do NOTHING, and sometimes I will go out and play in the snow. I can't now though because I fractured my knee.

Alternate Ending
In the book "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck, the way the story ended really wasn't right I thought. I think that after everything that happened that was terrible to them, something good should happen in the end, even though that doesn't follow the tragedy mode of literature. A tragedy story has to end in death or death symbolism, and that's how the book ended. I am changing the way it ended by writing an alternate ending.
As Kino and Juana walked down the dirt road into the woods, Kino suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. A very soft noise like a scuffling sound was coming from behind them. He turned and lashed out with the knife. But there was nothing there. Quickly Kino turned back around. He sensed the danger before it hit him. As fast as he could he grabbed Juana and Coyotito and jumped in a bush. Gunshots exploded around them. The family waited for minutes but it seemed like hours. None of them dared to breath, and even Coyotito didn't move a muscle. Then some voice they had never heard before said, " they are gone, we have won!"
Although they had gotten out of that bad luck, there was more to come. Kino then waited with his family, and waited some more. Then he slowly rose out of the thick bush, and said" They think we are dead, we are free." Juana picked up the baby, and the family walked away from the site unhurt toward the big capital. Kino's plan was simple: he would take his family into the village, sell his magnificent pearl, and they would move away from there, into a giant house. As these thoughts were going through Kino's head, he realized they were only a mile from the city. Excitement surged through him as he broke into a run. Juana called to him and he waited patiently.
When Juana reached him they set off into a quick walk. Within 10 minutes they reached the edge of the large capital. Kino's heart filled with joy. That feeling did not last very long. As quick as a flash they were surrounded by a large group of trackers. They all had their guns raised and pointed at Kino and Juana. They only wanted the great pearl. Then Kino and Juana would be left alone. Kino took out a rock and chucked it as far as he could. Fooled by the trick, they all turned and ran to where the rock had landed. With a look of dismay, they saw that this was not the great pearl but a gray colorless rock. In one motion they turned and raised there guns once more. There was nothing to shoot at.
Even though Kino and his family fled, he had made a decision. He took out the pearl and chucked it at the ground as hard as he possibly could. It shattered, and all that was left were some tiny pieces of shiny scrap. Breathing heavily, Kino let the song of evil flow out of his mind. He felt much greater now, and much more free. He and his family stopped, and turned around. Even Coyotito let out a sigh of relief. This pearl, the pearl of the world was now gone. And it could bring no harm to them ever again. So in a single file line, the family walked back to their village without even looking back at the scattered remains of what had brought them evil.

Final Post on The Pearl
This is probably one of the weirdest books i have ever read in my life. The ending part was really creepy. When Kino killed all of those guys, that part was scary. But then when the baby got killed, that just didn't seem right. It was pretty gory when the author said that his head got shot off. That must have stunk for Kino. He just risked his life to save them and Coyotito died. Overall, i would not read this book again if i didn't have to, and would not recommend it to anyone who gets scared easily.

Journal Reflection
This book is very weird so far. When the baby gets stung by the scorpion, that took me by surprise. It was kind of creepy when Juana had to suck the poison out of the baby's arm. Then when the doctor says he won't have them as patients because they're Indian, that's just racist. It was odd when later he came baack to help the baby. I actually think he faked it to make the baby sick. Then later when he came back, he saved the baby. Kino doesn't trust him though. I also think that it was the doctor who tried to steal the pearl.
Refelctive question chapter 3: Will the pearl destroy the Family
In chapter 3, Juana thinks that the pearl will destroy her and kino because it has brought bad luck so far. When that thing came into their hut, she freaked out, and told Kino to destroy it. The pearl could bring much worse luck for them that could ruin their lives or kill them. To Juana the sooner they get rid of it ther better, that's why they were going to sell it the next morning. She thinks that the longer that they hold onto it, then more and more bad luck will keep coming. I think that Kino agrees with her too. They're both more worried about the baby than their own safety. First the scorpion, and then the break in. This story is too weird so far.
