The book "Schooled" by Gordon Korman is a great book, and it teaches a lot of lessons. Reading this book gave me a feel of how people live outside of what many people think of as the normal world. Many lessons were learned in this book by many characters.
One of the main lessons I saw in this book, was when something bad happens, do not panic, and trust your instinct to do the right thing. For example, in the beginning of the book, the main character Cap's grandma falls out of a tree picking cherries, and breaks her hip. Cap trusts his instinct, and rushes her to the hospital. That turned out to be the right thing to do, because if he hadn't done that, his grandma could have damaged her leg forever. That was a turning point in the book.
Although that was a big lesson there are still some more lessons that this book had. After Cap drove to the hospital, he had to go live with a family with a mean high schooler. She hates Cap from the very beginning, but Cap doesn't run away, or hide. She thought that Cap was a freak, because he was a hippie. But Cap stood up for what he believed in. That was the lesson from that part of the book.
While other lessons were learned in the story, those were the main big ones. Smaller lessons consist of doing the right thing, treat people as you would like to be treated and others. Cap was a saint in this book for doing all those, and more. While the main character in this book had many lessons to be learned, other characters also showed many lessons. Caps grandma taught Cap the lessons but she needed to learn some to. She was confident in the book about everything but always got over confident. The lesson that this person learned in the book was just that. Not to be overconfident. This is one of the few examples of lessons characters had to learn.
In this book, character had a lot of lessons to learn. I still liked this book a lot, even though many characters were screwing up so much. I would recommend this book to people to read, because it keeps you thinking, and gives lots of laughs.
